White Sands National Park will host a concert for its second Full Moon Night event of the year on Friday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m.
In partnership with Western National Parks Association, we are pleased to have the Rio Grande Revelers Dixieland Jazz Band perform at the park's September Full Moon Night program. The Rio Grande Revelers are a seven-piece band formed in the Spring 2022 based out of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Join us for a relaxing fall evening on Friday, September 29, at 7:00 pm in the park’s natural outdoor amphitheater where you can enjoy the radiance of the dunes beneath a full moon while listening to smooth jazz and tapping your toes in the sand. The program is free, but park entrance fees will apply. The parking lot will open at 6:00 pm. Seating is not provided at the amphitheater. You are encouraged to set up on the surrounding dunes and bring camp chairs, blankets, and coolers with food and drinks.
The Rio Grande Revelers feature traditional jazz from nearly a hundred years ago with the early classics through the revival period of the 1940’s and 1950’s. The band consists of Brent Philips on drums, John Hyndman of string bass, Apollo Armendariz on trumpet, Robert Hull on banjo, Tony Montano on clarinet, and Scott McLaughlin on trombone. They all have a lifelong passion and an extensive history as musicians. Some members of the band have been playing music for as many as fifty years.
This is the second of three Full Moon Night programs White Sands is hosting this year which will feature the cultural legacy of Southern New Mexico and the rich natural resources of White Sands in partnership with Western National Parks Association. These events are a great opportunity to have a unique experience with the whole family under the light of the full moon.
