SILVER CITY MAINSTREET

Urban Challenge Fun Run coming up

Celebrating Territorial Charter Day with worthy cause

Posted

On Feb. 12,  Silver City will celebrate Territorial Charter Day and Silver City MainStreet will participate in the celebration with the fifth annual Urban Challenge Fun Run in downtown Silver City. The run is approximately a 5K and both families and serious runners are encouraged to register with the goal of having fun in downtown Silver City.

“This event is family friendly and we were so happy to see Moms pushing strollers with the family dog in tow in 2020, the last year we had the event in person," said Brenda Tozier, event planner. "Many people just walk the race with their friends and families, it is truly a fun run. One of the unique features of this race is the entry fee of three cans of food. We are so glad to collect food to donate to the WNMU food pantry and The Commons.”

“The race itself is run by WNMU track coach Macario Campos and the track team. We are grateful for this collaboration and to the Town of Silver City for sponsoring the race along with Copies on the Run and Skywest Media.”

To sign up for the race,  visit www.silvercitymainstreet.com or come by the Visitor Center at 201 N. Hudson Street. You can also sign up on race day starting at 8 am at the Visitor Center.

The mission of Silver City MainStreet is "To encourage a vibrant, historic downtown Silver City that is recognized as the heart of our diverse community." Please visit our website, www.silvercitymainstreet.com to learn more.
