The title of the historical book about to be released by the Silver City Museum has particularly meaning to me. Having just moved from Utah to southern New Mexico, my wife and I are in the middle of unpacking, taking the possessions we have collected over the years and incorporating them into our new home.
I am really enjoying this time getting to know our new community and the treasures it offers, and it is a particular pleasure to explore the history of this part of the country with the fresh eyes of a newcomer.
I enjoy the study of history of all kinds, and I am fascinated with storytelling. I loved talking with Bart Roselli and Susan Berry about the book, “Unpacking Silver City,” and I look forward to digging into the 150 years of history there over the next nine months. I hope you enjoy our preview of our series.
We have also included stories about music, the arts, and the events we can all appreciate through the month of November. Whether you’re looking for a list of places to go and things to do, or you enjoy a good story about what your neighbors have done or are doing, I hope you’ll find it here in this magazine.
I look forward to hearing from you as you share your stories and those of people you know and love. I can’t wait to share them in future issues of Desert Exposure.
