“True West” by Sam Shepard opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, for a three-weekend run at Las Cruces Community Theatre (LCCT), 313 N. Main St.

Directed by Michael Wise, the cast includes Ben Ramsey, Nick Check, Matthew Esqueda and Claudia Billings.

Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Oct. 6-7, 13-14 and 20-21; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 15 and 22. Ticket prices range from $12-$20.

“Written in the early 1980s, this play seems particularly prescient given the current preoccupation or concern with what is ‘real’ and ‘authentic’ versus what is manufactured or perceived to be real; the news on the television, the images on computers created by AI, the bold lies about facts that we all experience and share,” Wise said. “It questions fundamental things like personal identity, what it means to be a man, and the mutability of memory.”

Charley Davis returns as stage manager for “True West.” Doug Roby is the set designer, Alecks Rundell the lighting designer, Wise the sound designer, Darin Cabot the fight choreographer, Lennie Brown the props and costume designer and Olive Flores, who is the stagehand.
