Tour historic Mesilla through artist’s original paintings

Las Cruces artist Debra Vance has just published a new book, “Meander Mesilla: Tour My Home Town Through My Original Paintings.”

The book includes Vance’s paintings of Mesilla and the surrounding area.

“Learn snippets of history, discover things to see and do when you visit,” her amazon.com page says about the book.

A native of Strongsville, Ohio, Vance moved to Colorado in 1986 and began a career as a dental hygienist that would last for more than 30 years. She met her husband, Dene, when the two were involved in co-ed softball in 1993. Together, they owned a 168-acre cattle ranch for 18 years. The couple moved to Mesilla more than five years ago.

Vance is a signature member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society. Her art studio and gallery are located at 2200 W. Union Ave., on 11 acres surrounded by about 350 pecan trees in Mesilla.
