Sylvia A Hendrickson is a gourd artist, finding her love for gourds after moving to Las Cruces in 2007 and discovering buffalo gourds in the desert. Friends introduced her to more gourds and she was off and running. “After some reading, I learned most mediums can be applied to gourds,” she said. “My technique includes carving, wood burning, using dyes, ink, paint, beads, feathers, leather, pine needles and a variety of other natural products.
