‘Songs, Stories, Social Good’

Music coming to Cruces Creatives Sept. 22-Nov. 8

This fall, a five-part “Songs, Stories, and Social Good” performance series is coming to Cruces Creatives (CC), 205 E. Lohman Ave. and Unitarian Universalist Church (UUC) of Las Cruces, 2000 S. Solano Drive.

The performances will bring artists to Las Cruces and showcase local talent, Cruces Creatives said in a news release, while “using the arts to advance other social goods, including fundraising for refugees, women’s rights, mental health, peace, environmental protection and community building.”

The performances are

  • 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22: Alla Jakson, a Las Cruces violinist originally from Ukraine, UUC. A fundraiser for Ukrainian war refugees. Visit www.crucescreatives.org/event-5410577.
  • 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11: Lyrical Folk Night with Darryl Purpose and Hana Zara, folk/Americana songwriters, CC. Visit www.crucescreatives.org/event-5379490.
  • 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14: Micah Pearson and the Old-Time Pharmaceuticals, local storyteller and folk musicians. A Halloween event “connecting spooky stories, music and mental wellness.” Visit www.crucescreatives.org/event-5410572.
  • 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3: Karan Casey Trio, Celtic band, UUC. The trio includes singer/songwriter Karen Casey, guitarist Seán Óg, and fiddler/singer Niamh Dunne. Visit www.crucescreatives.org/event-5421103.
  • 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9: Piper Jones Band, Celtic music, including Highland bagpipes, bouzouki and drums. CC. Visit www.crucescreatives.org/event-5213683.

Ticket are “pay as you can,” according to Cruces Creatives, with suggested donations of $20.
