The 39th Annual July 4th Ice Cream Social is happening Tuesday, July 4th, at the Silver City Museum, featuring a full slate of local musicians, vendors, food, friends and fun. The annual celebration and fundraising event takes place in the museum courtyard from 11 am - 3 pm, and all proceeds benefit the museum.

What says Fourth of July celebration more than grilled hot dogs and ice cream? Attendees will be able to buy tickets for the purchase of hot dogs, popcorn, ice tea, lemonade and water, and a selection of ice cream treats. Nearly a dozen food and craft vendors, including the Mint Chip Creamery, will be offering a selection of items for sale.

A variety of free children's activities will be offered, including making magic windows, bubble-making, face painting and games for family fun, all of which will be held under a large, shaded canopy. Visitors can also learn more about current exhibits and programs at the museum, including the Life and Times of Arturo Flores and the Chihuahua Hill History Project, featuring dozens of oral histories from residents of this historic neighborhood.

This year the "world-famous" cake walk features some 55 cakes, including cupcakes from local bakery, Simply Delicious, meaning that a cake walk will be held approximately every six minutes, giving cake lovers great odds of leaving with a treat.
