Eric Ockerhausen will take on the topic of Gila Trout habitat restoration efforts during a Lunch & Learn event hosted by Western Institute of Lifelong Learning Wednesday, Oct. 21 at WNMU’s Global Resource Center’s ABC room, on the corner of 12th and Kentucky in Silver City.
Ockerhausen, an avid fly fisher and Trout Unlimited volunteer, will discuss how to get involved with trout restoration and what it is like to work on a project with Trout Unlimited. He’ll share what that people need to know if they are interested in assisting with stream habitat restoration, including how to get on the email list, what equipment they need to camp and assist with a project, physical requirements, and what kind of work needs to be done.
You don’t have to be a Trout Unlimited member to volunteer or attend this presentation; you just have to be interested in ongoing efforts to improve the streams that support our native Gila Trout. The program starts at noon and is free to the public. Lunch is not served, but you are welcome to bring your own.
