DOÑA ANA ARTS COUNCIL RENAISSANCE ARTSFAIRE

Renaissance ArtsFaire makes its return

Posted

With the theme “Travelers in Time,” the 2022 Renaissance ArtsFaire brings a promise of timeless art, food, and entertainment to Young Park in Las Cruces this coming weekend.  As always, the Renaissance is at the heart of the event, but just as that was time of discovery, innovation, and renewal, the same may well be true of our time and our place as well.

Susan Jewell rules over one of the courts.  “When I’m at the Renaissance ArtsFaire, all my mundane thoughts disappear, and I enjoy the fantasy all around.  There is jousting on horseback, knights fighting, a living history village, live musicians, jugglers, and dancing.”

The Arts Council has expressed regret that Magellan the Dragon will not be able to glisten in the lake this year, nor will boat rides be allowed due to water conditions beyond their control.  Hope has been expressed that both can return in 2023.

Pets should stay home or with a trusted caretaker because the walks, the entertainments, the arts, and the dining are all intended for only the human members of the family at this iconic event.

Parking will be available for a charge at Lynn Community Middle School at 950 S. Walnut St., and for free at Doña Ana Community College at 2345 Nevada Avenue and Rawson Builders Supply at 2355 Nevada Ave.  Free parking with a free shuttle bus will also be available at the west parking lot of the Mesilla Valley Mall.  For safety reasons and consideration for the residents, the Arts Council has asked that those attending the ArtsFaire please avoid parking in the neighborhoods immediately adjacent to Young Park.

This year, the first weekend in November is predicted to have clear skies, cold temperatures in the mornings, and cool temperatures in the afternoons.  The Doña Ana Arts Council welcomes human guests from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.  Tickets may be purchased at the gate or online at daarts.org.

This family event has been a local favorite for more than years.

The Doña Ana Arts Council supports and promotes the arts as both a part of a thriving creative economy and a source of community pride. Contact Executive Director Greg Smith at 575-523-6403 or director@daarts.org for more information.
