May in Silver City begins and ends with a bang. It’s an exciting month on the events calendar. It’s one of the reasons this is an exciting place to be.
May begins with the final days of the Tour of the Gila, one of the most challenging and iconic bicycle stage races in the U.S. The Tour includes more than 600 professional and amateur racers. The race has the feel of European racing on the winding, narrow mountain roads in the Gila National Forest.
After two weeks to rest up, one of the Southwest’s premier Blues Festivals comes to town, featuring the brightest rising stars of the Blues, both local artists and others who come to Silver City to share their talents.
Whether you’re into high intensity bike races or amazing music, this is the place to find it during the month of May.
