Fun Run food success

Virtual Urban Challenge collects food for local Pantries

Posted

In celebration of Territorial Charter Day, Silver City MainStreet organized a virtual Urban Challenge Fun Run in compliance with COVID restrictions. The run has gained popularity each year, with 107 runners participating in 2020 and we hope to be back bigger and better next year.

The virtual Fun Run had an entry fee of three cans of food to be donated to the Grant County Community and WNMU Food Pantries. Registered runners received a Fun Run t-shirt. “Considering the pandemic, we had a good turnout,” states Brenda Tozier, administrative assistant, Silver City MainStreet. We also had a Victorian costume contest with a great video made by one of the runners that is posted on our facebook page. Participants told us they were glad we didn’t cancel the event and that they really look forward to this run.”

“One of the unique features of this race is the entry fee of three cans of food. We are so glad that we were able to donate the food to help our community. Many thanks to all the generous participants!” Additional thanks go to the Town of Silver City for sponsoring the race.
