The Silver City Dia de los Muertos, noon-5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 29, is in the courtyard at the Silver City Museum there will be bone carving, food and vendors, pave painting, a puppet show and live music.
The parade starts at College and Pope streets at 3:30 p.m. and finishes at the museum.
On Thursday, Nov. 2, Caterina di Palma will lead at Ofrenda blessing procession to all the alters created in the town’s businesses.
The Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, is a holiday of Mexican origin honoring and celebrating death as a natural part of life. Nov. 1 and 2 are considered a time when the barrier between the worlds of the dead and the living is thin and allows the spirits of the dead to return to interact with the living.
Families and friends create ofrendas – alters in memory leaving colorful flowers, items, food, photos and more in remembrance.
