Accompanied by three senior Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives, Greg Cunningham, the Republican candidate for New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District seat, visited Electronic Caregiver in Las Cruces Oct. 15 to bolster his congressional campaign. Cunningham praised Electronic Caregiver’s technology for providing remote patient monitoring and other health services, particularly in rural communities.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana; Rep. Brett Guthrie of Kentucky, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee; and Rep. Steve Womack of Arkansas, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, all made brief comments at a news conference following a tour of Electronic Caregiver’s offices conducted by the company’s founder and CEO, Anthony Dohrmann.
Scalise emphasized a federal rural health care fund created through the 2025 Republican budget reconciliation legislation. Cunningham criticized incumbent Rep. Gabe Vasquez for voting against the legislation, a vote that was actually cast on a much larger package that also included significant changes to Medicaid, food assistance and tax policy.
Cunningham and Guthrie both emphasized the high concentration of New Mexico State University graduates on Electronic Caregiver’s staff and praised Dohrmann’s company for its focus on local connections and technological innovation.
Scalise and Womack joined Cunningham in emphasizing the importance of his candidacy in the fight for control of the House of Representatives over the next two years. The visiting lawmakers made clear that supporting Cunningham was a primary reason for their trip to New Mexico and, specifically, Las Cruces.
