The next Las Cruces Museum of Art’s next “Listen to Your Art” lecture will focus on the life and work of Japanese photographer Rinko Kawauchi, the City of Las Cruces said in a news release.

The Zoom lecture will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, via https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81713079226. The passcode is 598345.

The lecture will be presented by Megan Jacobs, an associate professor in the University of New Mexico Honors College and Adobe Master educator who has an MFA in photography. Her work has been featured in national magazines and exhibited nationally and internationally.

Kawauchi is one of the most lauded Japanese contemporary photographers, the news release said. “Her work uses photography as a tool to poetically record and highlight the aesthetics of everyday life,” the city said. “Her works have been published in dozens of monographs which explore motherhood, Japanese culture and the natural world.”

Kawauchi, 49, lives in Tokyo.
