A Children’s Theatre schedules in-person summer camps; sign up now

A Children’s Theatre of the Mesilla Valley (ACT) will hold a summer camp beginning Tuesday, June 1, camp coordinator Kelly King said.

The camps will rehearse for a production of “School House Rock” from 9 to 11 a.m., break for lunch and hold theater workshops from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. That will be followed by rehearsals for high-school students from 1:30 to 3 p.m. for a production of “Selfie.”

“School House Rock” and “Selfie” will be performed and recorded for streaming Friday and Saturday, June 25-26 at the Rio Grande Theatre.

The workshops and rehearsals will be held at the ACT studio, 1206 E. Idaho Ave.

Teachers/directors for workshops and rehearsals will be Jazmin Buchman, Luis Castro, Jenna Guitar and Mike Derr Guitar. Hunter Campbell and Jamin Bever will teach a performance workshop.

Production/rehearsal sessions are $150 per student. One-week workshops are $50 per student.

A film class will be held 5-6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, June 1-25 for 6- to 18-year-olds. The class, taught by Edward Lambert, is $60.

Participation is limited because of state public health orders.
