Kids Can

A business to help her mom

Posted

Big ideas can come from young entrepreneurs, and fifth grader Nadia Herring is a great example. A student at Desert Hills, Nadia started Nadia's Creations with one simple goal—to help her mom. What began as a thoughtful idea has grown into a fun business where she gets to be creative while learning new skills.

Nadia offers a variety of handmade items, including colorful rubber band bracelets, cozy potholders, and plants potted in decorative mugs. Whether someone is looking for a unique gift or something fun for their home, Nadia enjoys creating something they'll love. Her bracelets can be made in just a few minutes, while her potholders and planted mugs take more time and care to complete.

Science is Nadia's favorite subject, and she dreams of becoming a geologist someday. When she's not working on her business, she enjoys reading, playing volleyball, and practicing by tossing her soft volleyball around her room.

She's also a member of the LCAT swim team and a volleyball team. Another favorite hobby is visiting National Parks, where she's earned 20 Junior Ranger badges from parks across the United States.

Nadia has been part of the Kids Can program since second grade, and she says one of the best parts is how much fun it is and all the things she's learned along the way. Her favorite moment as a business owner is making a sale and seeing someone choose one of her handmade creations.

If you'd like to see what Nadia has been making, stop by the Farmers Market and check out Nadia's Creations. With a big heart, a creative spirit, and plenty of determination, she's showing that you're never too young to make a difference.
