The Blue Dome Gallery will show "Fissures," works in pottery by Randy O'Brien, Feb. 9-May 16, with an opening reception for the artist Feb. 9, 12-4 p.m. This body of work began its development eight years ago when O'Brien experimented with glazes, seeking a result that reflected his fascination with the mineral formations, mudflats and lichens of the Southwest. The individual pieces and the installation echo nature's formations of minerals and lichens, but are contemporary artforms. The pieces take two to three weeks to glaze and are the product of thousands of glaze tests and years of experimenting with firing techniques. 307 N. Texas St., 534-8671, www.bluedomegallery.com
