Art for Animal Guardians
Can a cockatiel paint? See for yourself at "For Pet's Sake," a celebration of Deming Animal Guardians' 17 years of spay/neuter assistance in Luna County, on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Gold Street Gallery, 116 S. Gold St. in Deming. Lili the Cockatiel will make a rare appearance for her "One Bird Show," featuring her unique artistic creations. Several framed pieces will be for sale at the event.
Deming Animal Guardians will be selling raffle tickets for a $500 gift card to any Wal-Mart, a pastel portrait of your pet from your photo by Dorothy Palser/Waddell, and a Mata Ortiz pot donated by Gold Street Gallery. Winning names will be drawn at this event. All prizes can be mailed to out-of-town winners.
There will be several door prizes, as well as refreshments and live music. A silent auction will sell pieces donated by local artists including Pepe Montoya, Paul Hoylen and Bill Corrigan; stop by Gold Street Gallery during the month of November to bid.
All proceeds will benefit Deming Animal Guardians' programs, which include sponsoring mobile spay/neuter vans, providing discount coupons and organizing low-cost spay/neuter specials. More than 6,000 dogs and cats have been sterilized through the program.
