Gear Up for Copper Country Cruizers Car Show,
Aug. 17-19

Take a stroll down memory lane when the Copper Country Cruizers host their 16th annual car show Aug. 17-19 in Silver City. The "Run to Copper Country" opens with registration at the Holiday Inn Express from 2-8 p.m. on Friday. The main event, featuring classic, custom and antique cars, trucks and street rods 1973 and earlier, will take place at Gough Park beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The show culminates with a poker run on Sunday.

What began when a few car buffs gathered in a garage and dreamed up the first show back in 1992 (with 42 entries) has evolved into a huge community event that draws 160-180 entries from many states.

Registration for participants is $35 per car, which includes dash plaque, T-shirt and goodie bag. The non-profit club uses revenues from the show to support a scholarship fund and make donations to several charities. The show is free to spectators. In addition to the array of classic cars, there will be vendors, refreshments, raffles and oldies music.

For more information, call 388-3468, email george@zianet.com, write PO Box 128, Silver City, NM 88062, or see www.coppercountrycruizers.com.
