Demographically Correct

By this month's Editor's Notebook (June), I'm a demographic dead ringer. Though I didn't contribute to this year's survey, I absolutely spend two hours, or more, reading the Desert Exposure. I make a point of getting a copy as soon as it comes out and when I meet someone from out of town I immediately advise them to pick one up.

I just about live by 40 Days and 40 Nights and I'll frequently clip out the Twisted Vine's calendar of events, and Isaac's too when they include one. Donna Lawder's articles have all proven to be excellent additions as well.

Including more local history hadn't occurred to me, but now that it's been brought it up, what a great idea! I'd love to see more on Silver City's "colorful" past.

Thanks for publishing a truly wonderful paper, which somehow continues to just get better and better. Maybe that's because you take reader surveys!

Happy Camper

I have just returned from a five-day trail ride with WolfHorse Outfitters from Santa Clara and I just wanted to remind the people of your area what a treasure y'all have in Joe Saenz, guide and owner of WolfHorse Outfitters. He is so knowledgeable of the area's history and does such an excellent job of raising awareness of protecting the past and the present of your great state.

I came away from my visit more concerned about the environment and I made a promise to myself to be more like the Native Americans and "leave no trace" of myself in nature—i.e., no bottles, cans or bags! I also promised myself to learn more Native American history from something besides Western movies and TV shows. Mr. Saenz and the Native American history of your area would make an excellent article for your paper.

I would also like to say how nice and hospitable the people at Gallery 400/Gila House Bed and Breakfast were. Richard and Amanda are such sweet people and go out of the way to make their guests feel welcome and at home. I love your state!

Y'all come to Tennessee sometime, now, ya heah!
