12 Paths to Healing
One man's prescription for getting better.
By Brett Rodgers
- Learn how to eat better. Read Healing with
Whole Foods by
Paul Pitchford. This is the bible of the natural diet. If you learn the
basic concept of "you are what you eat" and apply this knowledge
to your own life, you will get healthier.
- Learn how to cleanse your body. Read Cleanse
and Purify Thyself by
Dr. Richard Anderson or "Dr. Jensen's Guide to Better Bowel Care" by
Dr. Bernard Jensen. Over the years we all have accumulated many different
kinds of toxins in our bodies. Elimination of these toxins takes time and
of course education.
- Exercise! Mild to moderate exercise is very important.
If you let yourself get "stiff," then you will become a stiff!
Do yoga either on your own at home or with a group. Get active.
- Drink fresh juices. Read The Juiceman's
Power of Juicing by
Jay Kordich. Consuming liquid nutrition is important when you're healing.
I don't advocate vitamins. Most of them are synthetic. I do love to juice,
though, and I recommend it to everyone.
- Get away from harsh chemicals. Buy natural chemicals at your local co-op.
- Shop at your local co-op and read the labels. Minimize
purchases at the grocery store; if you read the labels, you'll understand
why. Also, non-organic foods are full of the kind of toxins that we're
trying to keep out of
our bodies. It's also good to support organic farmers. They know the truth
about taking care of the land and about how to create quality products,
not mass-produced crap full of pesticides.
- Connect with God, Allah, Jah, Buddha or whatever you believe to be the
divine source of all life. Ask for guidance and it will come. Sometimes
it takes time. Be patient. Search for love, knowledge, peace, compassion,
courage, joy, laughter, inspiration, forgiveness and all things good and
great. We are all one! We must come together more and more. Remember that
life never ends and that these bodies are mere tools to be used to create
love.
- Do emotional healing work. Talk to a friend. Write in a journal. See
a psychiatrist. Meet in groups. Cry, cry, cry. Release anger in a positive
way — get it out!
- Learn about environmental illness. Read Creating
a Healthy Household by
Lynn Marie Bower. In this book you'll learn about how important it is to
detoxify your home. Some things are easy, like using a good filter on your
furnace. Other things are not easy, like rolling up that nasty, toxic carpet
and hauling it off to the landfill. They say that our indoor air pollution
is five times worse than outdoors.
- Find your purpose. Search within yourself and figure out what you came
here for. Why are you here? Why stay? If you're going to do all of these
things that I've suggested, you must have a good reason to stay alive.
Find it. If you don't know what it is, then ask the divine and she will
channel it to you.
- Learn to listen to the signs. Listen to people; listen to the trees;
listen to your pets. All things are God! All things have a message. It
takes time and hard work to develop intuition. Breathe, meditate and sit
quietly in a special place.
- Keep your sense of humor. It's a crazy world; it's perfect—but it's
not. It's beautiful yet ugly. Sometimes you've got to just laugh! Watch
Jay Leno! Play board games! Tell jokes! Life is not easy, but we can get
through it together. We can do it.
