Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid—A newly restored
print of a film with a lot of local history. Set in 1881, powerful
interests want New Mexico tamed for progress, and Sheriff Pat Garrett
is commissioned to rid the territory of his old comrades. He serves
fair notice to William Bonney—Billy the Kid—and his Fort Sumner
cronies, but it's not in their nature, or his, to go quietly. The
main theme is the closing of the frontier and the nature of the
