Calling All Swingers
The annual Gila Regional Medical Center Benefit Golf Tournament is teeing up some changes this year. Scheduling difficulties have scratched the Pro-Am Tournament until next year, so the Gila Classic amateur outing is being expanded to a two-day, five- person team event, with a Callaway format on Saturday and a Scramble on Sunday. The tournament, the medical-center foundation's main fundraising event of the year, is scheduled for Sept. 10 and 11 at the Silver City Golf Course. Established in 1990, the fundraising tournaments have provided the foundation with financial resources to assist the hospital in purchasing state-of-the-art equipment, completing capital projects and supporting scholarships for healthcare students. For the next several years the foundation will be directing a majority of its resources towards building a new cancer center, with radiation treatment and expanded chemotherapy facilities. This year's tournament field will include 90 golfers. A $100 registration fee includes the players' party, green and cart fees and breakfast burritos (both days), a goody bag, a lunch and prizes. For additional information and registration contact the GRMC Foundation at 538-4092 or cmcandrew@grmc.org.
