Art News

The Director's Gallery of the Las Cruces Museum of Fine Art will showcase "Fire & Fiber," an exhibit that displays the works of members of the Las Cruces Potters' and Weavers' Guilds who have worked "hand in hand" in collaborative artworks. The exhibit opens July 2 with a reception from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and continues through July 30.

In the works exhibited, 22 pairings of potters and fiber artists contribute artistic talents to the finished products. This is the second bi-annual exhibition event of this type at the museum.

The Museum of Fine Art is located at 490 N. Water St. in the Las Cruces downtown mall. For more information, call 505-541-2160.

Galleries in the Las Cruces Old Downtown area, from Griggs north to Hadley, will be having a "Walkabout the Galleries" on Friday, July 1, from 5-7 p.m. Participating venues include Big Picture/Main Street Gallery (647-0508), Blue Gate Gallery (523-2950), Branigan Cultural Center (541-2155), Cottonwood Gallery at the Southwest Environmental Center (522-5552), the Museum of Fine Art (541-2137) and Unravel (647-1181).
