The A.I.R. Coffee coffeehouse in Silver City, a local institution (see our October 2003 issue), has been sold and rechristened as Dos Baristas. New owners Dean and Ruth Ann Poppe will continue to serve A.I.R.-brand coffee, which founder Jacqueline Shaw will concentrate on roasting now that she's no longer operating the coffeehouse. . . . Subbies, specializing in sandwiches, soup and salads, has opened at 455 N. Valley in Las Cruces. . . . New in Dona Ana is Big Mike's Cafe on Thorpe Road, operated by local Mike Gamboa. "Big Mike," who's also been a bail bondsman and pro bass angler, serves breakfast burritos, other Mexican stand-bys, sandwiches and burgers, notably "Mike's Big Burger." . . . Sugar Daddy's B-B-Que has opened at 122 Avenida de Mesilla in Las Cruces. . . . K-Bob's at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Museum is now the Museum Grill, open for lunch only. . . . The Sunset Grill is the new restaurant at the Sonoma Ranch Golf Course, 1274 Golf Club Road in Las Cruces. You don't have to play to dine, but you do get a nice view of the golf course.
